Lookin for parents of John Gillespie Brown who was born 1804-1807 in NC-

I have hit a brick wall in my research and would appreciate any information you may provide.

John Gillespie Brown was my Paternal 2nd Great Grandfather.  From  Census information from Copiah, MS 1830-1860, he states he was born in 1805 in NC.  Census information for MS shows him living in the state from about 1820-1860.

He married Caroline Mahala Cheek on March 9, 1836 in MS.  They had the following children:

For the date he was born, if his grandfather's lived in America in 1776, they probably fought in the Revolution. Check SAR and DAR records to see if anyone was accepted based on his lineage?
SAR and DAR have been checked with no reference to John Gillespie Brown

      Birth date on find a grave is January 19 1805. Gillespie might be his mother's maiden name?

      that's ok- I thought the same thing when I first saw the entry

      Thanks for your information- My William Cheek was from MS and was married to Frances Speed Hill in 1857.  I had seen this reference in the Quaker meeting notes before and didn't think it fit with my John G Brown.--Thanks anyway

      I saw where your post on John Gillespie Brown and you were wanting information. Well since I am going to the Genealogy center today, I will look in North carolina and see what I can find on him. They may have some records on him. I will let you know when I come back. Thanks. Nancy
