Colin/Collin Fox b.  04/16/1820 in Ramelton, Donegal, Ireland. His baptism is recorded in the Presbyterian Registers for Ramelton. Collin immigrated to the United States on the Ship Roman in 1834. According to a paid researcher my mother in law hired, he had a sister who was baptized in 1822 in Ramelton as well. Collin married a Mary Tracey in Ohio 31 December 1844.

Collin died 13 April 1893 in Clark, South Dakota. I have searched on Ancestry.com and found nothing about his life in Ireland.

If there are any researchers out there in Donegal that can help that would be great. Thanks for any help you can give.

I can afford the 12 bucks and I've never made a banana cream pie but I can make you an apple pie that will make you think you're in heaven.

Betty Fox: I will help you with this. But so many records were destroyed

by Irish Government during WW1.They destroyed old paper and ground

it up making paper pulp. But will look see.
by Wayne Morgan G2G Astronaut (1.1m points)
Not all records were destroyed during the War of independence in Ireland (not WWI) the records were held and are held by the church. All census records from 1841 to 1891 were destroyed in the fire of the Four Courts record office and a good part of protestant church records (the ones that were send to the records office only) That everything was burned is a myth

Only gives his Baptism date record, does not give his mothers name.

Colin Fox Baptised April 29 1820 ,Ramelton First,Donegal Ireland.

Was a Presbyterian. His father also a Colin Fox.
by Wayne Morgan G2G Astronaut (1.1m points)
So his father was also named Colin Fox. Supposedly he had a sister baptized in 1822. Is that record available as well.

Thanks for the help.

Betty: Further info on immigration on ship Roman in 1834.Colin age listed

as 17,Now i am not sure this is your Colin,he should be 14,Wish i could see original ship passenger list.See who came with him.Do you know

sister name born 1822 ?? Cannot find without her name.
by Wayne Morgan G2G Astronaut (1.1m points)
Sadly, I do not have the name of his sister. I have to pay ten euro for that. I don't even know what the US equivalent is.

Thank you so much for the info you gave me.

Oy! I have Robert down there as a guess due to info from the researcher in Donegal.

I hadn't heard of Rosa as of yet. I'll look into that.

Colin was indeed baptised on the 29 April 1820 in Ramelton, father Colin's address at the time of son Colins birth  was Forquar a townland in Civil Parish of Tullyfern, in the Barony of Kilmacrenan, in the County of Donegal.

Father Colin Fox married Colins mother Frances Hay on the 16th April 1807 in Ramelton, Colins address at the time of his marriage was Fork (probably Forquar) and his bride Frances was from the address Ballymore, both were Presbyterian

Thank you so much. Colin's wife is not listed on the birth certificate or so I'm told. Is there a way to find out the name of Colin the elder's wife?

Thank you.

You wouldn't happen to have a list of children of the two and Frances' death date and location.
