What is the correct procedure to follow when I find a duplicate record that has no Profile Manager?

If I post comments to that effect on the page of the duplicate, will that suffice? Or do I have to adopt it in order to delete or merge it? I'm a newbie here, sorry if this is basic.

A note on the profile won't do a lot of good if there's no manager.

If the profile has no manager and you want to merge it with another profile that you manage or another profile that has no manager, you can complete the merge without adopting it and without asking anyone else for help.

If you want to merge it with another profile that has a different manager, you can adopt it if you'd like, or you can simply propose a merge. Either the way, the merge won't happen until the manager (or a trusted list member) of the other profile approves the merge, or until at least 30 days have elapsed for the merge to get default approval.

And we don't delete profiles. They get merged with other profiles.
