Hiram died as a Confederate prisoner of war in Ohio and is buried at a federal Confederate Cemetery there.  He was born and lived in Lee County, Virginia, brother of William, James, King, and David, and father of Andrew Jackson Eldridge, 1854-1931, John R, and McHenderson Eldridge. His mother, we think, was Nancy Lambert.   His wife was Elizabeth Smith who later married an O'Neal..

We are looking for his father's name.

According to LDS Family Tree, Hiram was the youngest of five sons of John Eldridge (1790-1835) and Nancy Lambert (1802-1850).
