Can you help with Canadian records for Cecil Herbert NORTON between 1901 & 1914 please?

One of my ancestors Cecil Herbert NORTON who was born 1 Dec 1881 In Worcester, England migrated to Canada after 1901.

He enlisted with the 14th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment) 21st September 1914 in Valcartier, Canada & was posted missing presumed dead on or since April 29th 1915.

I found an entry for C H Norton on a ships list for the S.S. Lake Erie (migration ship) that sailed from Liverpool to Canada in July 1904. I have some doubts that this was my ancestor because the age given on the ships list was 60Y and my ancestors age would have been 22Y.

I have searched in vain for any record of Cecil between 1904 & 1914 in Canada. From his enlistment record it appears that he had not married since he gave his mother as next of kin (unless of course he had married & his spouse had died).

If anyone can find any Canadian record for Cecil prior to his enlistment ( especially a 1911 census record) that could confirm his year of entry into Canada that would be much appreciated

This is the wrong burial as Herbert signed up for the military in 1914 and was presumed dead in 1915. Maybe he died in Europe during WWI.
