Are there Templates for adding Census Transcripts?

+3 votes
If there are templates, how do I access them, if there are NOT, are there guidelines for adding transcripts and other research notes to each individual?  Thanks!

I'm trying to compile all my notes, census data, etc all in one place....I don't mind sharing the info with others.  I'd like to standardize the appearance, where possible, so others (or myself for that matter) don't pull their hair out or send me nasty-grams about the profile being such a dis-organized mess.

Family search - free on-line genealogy search site has many census records online.

You can search - and cut and paste the details to your tree for references.  You should always include the familysearch source  (copy the URL that is in the address bar).  Below is an example of their standard format) Some census years have more data - such as birth month and year,  years married, number of children/living children; birthplace of parents etc. than other census years.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for being careful and responsible about sources. That's terrific.

We do not have templates yet.

You probably saw this help page:

We ought to have a recommendation on there about exactly what should be included when citing a census record as a source.

In the meantime, check out

He gives some good examples, including:

1850 United State Census (Free Schedule), Pitt Township, Wyandot County, Ohio; p. 233, family 86, dwelling 79, lines 967-977; June 1, 1850; National Archives Microfilm M-19, Roll 719. [This was a particularly readable film.]

I think it's also important to include who accessed the record and when, i.e. your name and the date you recorded the information.
