After reading Chris W's recent post about Wikitree's Public privacy level, I wanted to evaluate how I have set privacy levels across my tree and profiles which I've contributed to. This required going through the Watchlist, which tends to include far more profiles, including many which I don't manage. This works reasonably well.
But perhaps it would be intuitive to be able to see privacy levels when viewing the Family Tree or Descendants view. Currently, when I want to check which profiles are private (in a particular branch of the tree), I end up going to a new browser or an incognito window to to check. Yet that only shows which are fully private; nothing for the semi-private variations. But it would be useful to see at a glance. And it perhaps could help others to evaluate how they have set privacy levels.
My proposal is for an unelaborate visual cue: just add a correspondingly coloured icon beside each name in either the Family Tree View or the Decendants View. That might be too much visual clutter, but it's an idea that others may also like.
Edited to specify: the Watchlist shows privacy settings for everyone, in a long list, whereas I find it helpful to look at a specific branch of the tree to sort out where I have set the 'privacy bar'.
