I found an old print out that my aunt did of the family tree dated June 2000. It begins with a systematic family lineage for the Billingsley family, starting with Roger the VI in 1450. After each name there is a dash and a number:
Roger BILLINGSLEY VI-333 (1450)
Does anyone know what, if anything, this means?
I'm hoping that it might help me find an entry that will provide more information. Since the print out doesn't have any information as to where it originated from, I am left to make some uncertain conclusions. My aunt used the LDS genealogy files for some of her research - probably at an actual facility that provides records - and I'm wondering if the number might possibly be a reference number such as Wikitree uses.
I also came across a similar situation with the Lyon family lineage. A website I found placed my grandfather among the descendants, and each person has a number listed in parentheses. Is this common and should there be a way to track it in databases, or is it just a random number assigned to a listing for convenience?
