Because they are on your watch list is the usual reason. for Instance, I have one line which is on my error list which are cousins on my mother's side which have all the profiles non-open but the PM is not responsive and only occasionally active. I could remove them from my watch list and thus my error list to make it look clean, but I leave them there so some day it will be irksome enough to make me go through the steps to get something done about it.

David-

Thank you for your quick response regarding my ? on error management.

Not all of the people appearing as errors are on my watchlist. It is frustrating because for most of them I don't have the necessary data to

correct them. Guess I'll just leave 'em as you indicated. Thanks again.

Bob
BTW, I do have some descendents , like the family I mentioned which I don't remember putting on my a watch list, but show up there.  Most of the time I was able to correct them anyway since they were open profiles.  You can, of course, look at the error list of any open profile which lets you get back farther in your tree.  But you'll do fine ignoring any errors you can't fix for now.  The errror lists are for your benefit, not a demand on you.
David- I have found your answer to be most helpful. The profiles in question on my error list are folks with whom I have no blood relationship. They are parents, grandparents, and other ancestors of a second cousin-by-marriage  for whom I am not PM. Your suggestion to ignore them is most on point. Many Thanks!   Bob Wilsterman

You have different error lists

  1. Your watchlist
    URL https://apps.wikitree.com/apps/trtnik2/ex/

==> you get it because you are on the trusted list of those profiles or are the profile manager

  2. Managed by
    URL http://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTWebUser/errors.htm?WikiTreeID=Wilsterman-1

==> you are the profile manager

  3. If you select the menu option on your profile you get

    URL http://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTWeb/errors.htm?UserID=9148603

==> you get errors based on generations from you ==> you will see an error on profile Berwick-32 that is related to you

    Relationship Trails

    1. Robert is the son of Judson Guy Wilsterman [unknown confidence]
      2. Judson is the son of Estella Adrain (Smith) Wilsterman [unknown confidence]
        3. Estella is the daughter of Rufus Perry Smith [unknown confidence]

This trail tells us that Rufus is the great grandfather of Robert.

    1. Lester is the son of Emma Virginia (Smith) Berwick [unknown confidence]
       2. Emma is the daughter of Rufus Perry Smith [unknown confidence]

This trail tells us that Rufus is the grandfather of Lester.

If you look at the top of the Error Report you will see "Errors and Warnings for Relatives." That means the Error Report includes not only profiles on your Watchlist, but profiles of individuals related to you but not managed by you.

The reason profiles not on your watchlist (and managed by other people) show up on your error report is because they are connected to the people on your watchlist -- by marriage, cousins, aunts and uncles, etc.

The error report simply walks the tree for any and all connections, both up and down, starting at the profile you are running the report on.
