Unmerged Match

Question

I was looking for a lost Babcock ancestor and noticed two Babcocks with the same name and birth dates.  So I compared.  Each has the same birth and death date, locations are the same.  Spouses are almost the same, I believe I can see what the issue is (spouse surname is very likely the middle name of the one daughter on one profile).  The other profile has several children (including the one mentioned) all with the surname of the father.

This is confusing, I know.  Hereʻs my question - this is set as an unmerged match.  Both are gedcom imports, I think.  No sources on one and the other is sourced from an Ancestory Family Tree.  Should they be merged?

I personally would leave them as a unmerged match till you can iron out the details of the spouse surname other than that it appears to be the same person.

Still digging but it appears Dennison Emeline doesn't exist. I did find a Denison Emlyn who has no connection to this family there being a decade plus separation.  auto correct had enough instead of Emlyn and I didn't notice

Rhoda is the key.  In one tree, she's the gg-gm of a John Curtis Rowe, d 1994.  And she marries an Avery.

In the other tree, she's born into an Avery family.

Options are

1 - true story, one girl, Rhoda Emeline (Avery) Avery

2 - two Rhodas

3 - one of the Rhodas didn't exist, she was created out of internet confusion.

I dunno.  But the other answers should fall out from this one, because the Emelines are only there to produce William Randall Avery's wife.

I merged the two Hannahs. When I set these as an unmerged match 17 months ago, it appears that both of the profiles had parents (different parents). Since those parents had been removed, there was no longer a reason to maintain the unmerged match. Thanks to Eddie for the census record; the profile is no longer unsourced.

That now leaves the question of which Dennison is the correct spouse and the father of her daughter Rhoda. She now has two daughters named Rhoda with the same birth date and both were born in New London, Connecticut.

I resolved the confusion about the daughter by looking up the birth record in the Barbour Collection of Connecticut Vital Records. Her birth name was Rhoda Emeline Avery and her father was Denison Avery. Some people have the surname Emeline, but this family was named Avery. See this page on AmericanAncestors.org (probably requires subscription).

I've merged the duplicates.
