Private privacy setting being over-ridden on family tree view

I have a person in my tree that has a "private" privacy setting (for illegitimacy), yet when I go the Family Tree page for the daughter, his name is showing as "private father" but grandparents are showing their surname, "[SURNAME grandfather? please help]".  Is there something I am missing?  The surname shouldn't be showing at all.

Would prefer not to link to actual profile for privacy reasons.

Hi Rhona,

Is this daughter's profile public, or private with a public family tree? If not, the tree should not be visible to others.

In this particular case, you could consider anonymizing the parent or grandparent's LNAB for extra protection.

Her's is public with tree, his is private, even though I have aonymized his name it shows up in tree view.

There are no parents/grandparents entered to aonymize.  Sending you the link.

[Repeating what I wrote by e-mail:]

I'm afraid the privacy settings aren't going to do everything you want. They don't keep last names private, unless a person is Unlisted, plus they're not designed for people born so long ago. They're designed to protect children and living people.

If you want to keep him on there, you could remove the LNAB and just put it in a note inside the private biography.

Chris, what's LNAB?  I can't switch him to unlisted because of the quirk with my ID (refer private emails).  The only other thing I can think of is to completely unattached him and dump him into cyberspace, but them because she is public I can't put notes in her biography, because they will be public too.

Conudnrum:  don't suppose any thought has been give to a private note section for trusted people only?

Hi Rhonda,

I don't remember the quirk, you may need to e-mail me again.

Regardless, you should be able to go to the edit page and look for the link by the Last Name at Birth to change it.

Just keep the last name inside the biography. Almost all sections of a private page are just for Trusted List members. See the Privacy page for an explanation of what is and is not.

Chris
