I hope everyone had a fantastic week!

I spent much of my time researching G2G questions & integrating the answers into the world tree.

I also spent some time gardening & hoping this yo-yo weather will decide to stay warm.

I hope you all will watch the Hang Out on Sat at 3 PM EDT....who knows what we'll discuss, but One Name Studies is the opening topic.

Note:

I have been a landscape designer for over 30 years....have any plant questions, just ask. I love cats, flowers, photography, the guitar (as well as typical male stuff...sports, etc). I mention this in case you run out of ONS questions.

Let's have fun...see you tomorrow!

Anything new with you?

One Name Studies? Cool! I must try to remember to watch it before it's over, because my ONS is going nowhere (probably because I'm trying to do too many other things at once).
I turned my ONS into a Family Networking and tagged spouses and have stated tagging children that do not carry the Jester name. the social-networkers of anthropologists might like that. I'll have to have my brother give me more tips on it, its his field.

Today I took a whole 6 hours off the computer. I had to renew my drivers license. New restriction, must wear corrective lenses. I knew I wouldn't be able to pass the vision test without glasses. But I had a nice day in the sun at Pony Expresso (drive thru coffee and drink place) where I had a large regular ol' coffee without any flavorings or sweeteners or creams, in the sun with a nice 5 mile per hour breeze reading a book!!! The bus takes a 2 hour lunch break, and I missed the 10:20 bus and had to wait till 1:20 for the next one. Thats OK. Rode it for a mile and got off to the next shopping locations for a RX, new clip on shades for my new glasses, and a few groceries, and missed the next bus that could have taken me home to within a 1/2 block from my house. So I walked back to the stop I had just left an hour before, and ended up walking 1/2 mile home. Quite an adventure for someone who rarely leaves the house.

The 1840 Union County and 1850 Van Buren County censuses for Arkansas are almost finished being transcribed. AND I have completed adding profiles for Brown Township, Union County 1850. Space:1850_Brown_Township_Union_County_Arkansas_Census_Index Thank goodness it was only 2 pages. However eldorado and a couple of others have 24 pages or so. And then finding the peeps on WT after I get the census ready.
Was told by a friend/collaborator that the livecast was on today. I will be sure to watch.

Unfortunately, I was told it was 5pm ....No zone.  I have just checked and it is 8pm my time. BUT I will be sure to watch.

My eldest has a piano recital this weekend, so we'll be out enjoying that. I plan on doing some research and updating of my direct ancestors a bit if it rains, which is a possibility. If not, I hope to get outside, as spring is finally starting to appear here in the Midwest. I need to prepare beds for planting and it looks like before long we'll be mowing.

Hm, one of my tips is one I suggested to Leaders this week-use the explain you changes box! I even use it when editing my own profiles as I can easily see what changes I have made in the changes log without wondering why I was so busy on a certain day, or the last time I looked for or at a certain source.

I also recommend the new Needs category call on project templates. They're great for placing profiles you can't improve at that moment into maintenance categories so others might be able to help. You just put {{Notables|Needs=Biography}} or whatever specific approved Needs category is appropriate. Super easy and handy. Talk to that specific project's Leader for more information.

My bestie about 35 minutes to the west of where I live informs me rain is headed this way, so I better vacate my perch outside and head in before I get wet. Have great weekend, y'all!

It was cold yesterday here in Tempe, but it probably was the coldest day until, say, October.

We had a guest yesterday at our Toastmasters club who gave a seminar on evaluating.  This was the last project she needed to complete to become a Distinguished Toastmaster, the top rank in Toastmasters. This was the same project (though mine was on training) which I had to complete to become a DTM myself a few years ago.  So I enjoyed listening to it and taking part in the discussions.

And now, my wife are off for an early lunch at the local mid-east eatery.

Then back to finishing entering the Belknaps in my Miller tree.

Greetings this fourth day of spring!!

This is the time for unbalanced weather, temps up and down from the 40's to the 70's, some days sunny some days foggy or raining. But that's how we get our beautiful trees and plants blooming for Easter so we tolerate it!!!

Tomorrow I will be with my comrades and "Vietnam Veterans" in the area celebrating "Vietnam Veterans Day" which commemorates the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and their families and is part of a national effort to recognize the men and women who were denied a proper welcome upon returning home more than 40 years ago.

Most states celebrate “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” on March 29 or 30 of each year. Though there is some debate, March 29 is generally viewed as a more appropriate date. On that day in 1973, the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived on American soil. It is also the date President Nixon chose for the first Vietnam Veterans Day in 1974.

We have a Vietnam War Category here on WikiTree under our Military and War Project: Check it out here: [[https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Vietnam_War%2C_United_States_of_America Vietnam War, USA]]

Still working on Database errors report. Each week more and more new profiles are added... one big issue is that after a "merge" people forget to clean up profiles from the duplicate biographies and list of sources. If you see two or more "== Biography==" headings and two or more "==Sources==" headings then you need to delete the duplicates and clean them up a bit for readability.

Also adding the "Unsourced" tags to indicate a source is needed for certain information. I am always asked "what type sources can I use?" I recommend checking out this page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources and this one is great too: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Jillaine's_Dream_Source_Help_Page.

Thank you for the information about Vietnam Veterans Day. Good to hear that those who served are remembered and thought about. Hope you have a good day with your former comrades. Kind regards Chris Burrrow.
Thanks Chris. Appreciate the comment!!

Hello again from Brightlingsea, Essex, England. Busy week as usual. Had my new heating system installed this week, which I am very pleased with. Am adding a few more names to Wikitree in particular from the Brasted family. Have been adding sources and tidying up some profiles I did when i first joined. Adding sources and tidying up biographies. Plenty to do....          Hope everyone has a good weekend////

Rain last night ... finally!!  It's been a couple of dry months.  Not a lot, half inch or so, but it's all good.  Snow to our South and East ... good news for the farmers.

See several folks here thinking about planting ... that's great!  Ah, but Mother Nature ain't gonna fool me!  It's May 15th and no sooner to plant.  Dreamin' about my caprese salad ... I don't do the regular big slices of tomato and fresh mozzarella ... for me it's: cherry tomatoes, halved, Ciliegine, fresh mozzarella balls, quartered, basil leaves, chiffonaded, EV olive oil, salt and pepper ... to die for.

Doing a bit of Wikitree but not much ... spring clean up; pruning trees, NCAA basketball and I just lay back on the couch, motionless!!

You're making me hungry Bob.
Yummy salad, wish I could send you some fresh homemade goat cheese for that!

We had a beautiful March snow yesterday. The flakes were big and heavy and instead of the soft fluft sound they usually make they were impacting things with something of fluthud.

I also got to spend some time talking to Doug, face to face, to prepare for the LiveCast later today! Can't wait!

Ten years ago today I was married.  I had been m-m-m-married for 19 years before, after which I was very happily single for 26 years.  It was surprising to me that I actually became willing to risk my treasured freedom and independence again after my first experience, but I took that blind flying leap off the cliff and am oh-so-glad that I did it!  Every day brings renewed reinforcement of having made the right choice.

At the same time we were married, we both retired (for the final time - we had each retired previously, but it didn't stick) and moved from the hot air capital of the universe (the Washington, DC region) to the wilds of rural Alabama.  Among the civilized activities we gave up were attending concerts performed by acclaimed orchestras, which my husband misses very much.

I'd like to share with you the gift I gave my husband today - when he turned his computer on this morning, he received an email consisting of only the following link:

I had a good day today.

Got told that 1 fellow on the fringes of my Thompson tree, had married his wife but was possibly related to the wifes stepfather. So I was asked if I could find out the details. 2 hours later, I had discovered that yes they were related, but it was the Fairbairn side, not the Thompson side. The younger fellow was actually second cousins with his wifes half siblings, but not related to the wife herself, He was however a first cousin once removed from the wifes stepfather.

Anyway that took up my morning. Then I was eagerly anticipating the Livechat today 3 pm EDT - my time zone. This would be my first ever live chat. It was an interview with Doug Lockwood, and all about One Name Studies. We in the chat room spent most of our time talking about the Guild Of One Name studies and then about surnames and where they came from. That was a lot of fun.

So genealogically, I have had a great day!!

I have spent the weekend trying to catch up on work I am months behind on so I will have more time for Wiki and other genealogy pursuits!  This also means doing my older son's taxes.  We celebrated his turning 21 yesterday.  Sniff Sniff!  If you blink they go from baby to adult in a flash!

Spring is on the air here so we will be getting our garden beds ready for planting.  Not sure what we are planting yet as this is a new home and we haven't had a garden for some time.

It was great seeing you on the livecast yesterday, Doug, and hearing more about the one name studies.  I realized, I am part of a one name study that doesn't do anything and has an empty page.  Time to change that!  One more thing on my Wiki To Do list.

Hope everyone has a great week and breaks down at least one wall.

(This answer just took me to Mach 2.  Yoo Hoo!)
