Is it possible to post old photographs that are identified on the back?

My husband and I have collected cabinet cards and other old photographs for many years. It seemed a travesty to find family photos and albums in a shop for sale so we purchased/adopted what we could find. We have quite a few that are identified in written form on the front or back. I would like to start a project of scanning and posting these to WikiTree. It would be great to post old photos that would some day be discovered by a descendant. If someone from WikiTree could advise me how to proceed, it would be appreciated!

I'm not sure how this would all work on the copyright side but what you could do is start a Free space Profile and put the pictures in there I would include in the source information when you upload them giving precise information where you obtained these photos

Lynda, I like your idea, and I think it would be a great resource to have a library of old photos that are looking for a rightful spot in someone's family tree.  If there's info on the backs of the photos, I would scan that too.  A free space page would certainly work, but I can see that an activity like that could consume a great deal of memory and server resources, and I'm not sure if WikiTree would be the right site to support it.  I'd like to suggest that you add some tags to your question ("improvements", "photos", "admin," perrhaps others) to make it catch Chris' attention, and see what he says.

I think there is such a project https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Lost_Family_Photos

Perhaps see if they can help or if they have a process in place for matching images with people.
