My g-g-grandparents farmed for Dr. G. M. Bosley - looking for records from Dr. Bosley's farms, Timonium, 1850s - 1890s?

Thanks, Steinbach.  I'm confused that the owner of Grafton's tree "Bosley-98" doesn't appear to be full-fledged.  The tree also says "this tree has no owner" - or something to that effect.  Bosley was a very prominent citizen, and g-g-grandparents were not.  But I'm hoping that prominence means that his heirs sill have his business logs, accounts, etc. from back in that day - which I believe would reference my ancestors.  I also have reason to believe that Bosley was especially kind to them - for reasons I can detail an other time.  Thanks for your response.

It appears that the person who created Bosley-98 has abandoned the profile. Anyone who cares to, can adopt it, or you can add to it without adopting it.

If you scroll down to the 1870 Census you will see a farm laborer named Charles Buchanan listed with Grafton's family. Is that your ancestor?

I see.  Thanks, that's very helpful.  No, my ancestor was gr-gr-grandfather (John Connor) - and then almost certainly it would seem, his wife my gr-gr-grandmother (Elizabeth (ne Dunn) Connor).  Here's why:

1) I have a Maryland land record of Dr. Grafton Bosley leasing a 75'x75' plot of land in Timonium MD on the York Towne Turnpike (now called York Rd.) in 1869 (19 years after they arrived).  This plot is definitely where they lived - and two of her sons after her in two side-by-side houses.

2) The reason I think they are friends, or very close business acquaintances is that Dr. Bosley leased that property to Elizabeth for $43 per year.  But then, just 2 years later in 1871, he sold her the property for what appears to be an extremely generous price of $250.  Both land records are primary records straight out of the MD state archives.  So, it appears they had a long and amicable relationship - and it appears that Dr. Bosley was exceedingly kind to them.  And so I'm thinking that relationship must have come from a long term working relationship. And if I found his business books - I might gain much data on, for example, what type of farming they did for him, what their roles were, etc.  This would really help me put "flesh on the bones" of their lives way back then.  Thanks again for your quick reply - J
