What is Julian Venable a descendent of Abraham Venable? Abraham W Venable who lived at the time of the Civil War and just before, was a close friend of John C Calhoun. He was I believe the grandson or great-grandson of Nathaniel V., the founder of the line in  North Carolina, founder of Hampton Sydney College. Nathaniel Venable of Slate Hill.

If so, he was a cousin of mine. And I understand you probably are descended from him so we might be cousins also.

Yes, Nathaniel Julian Venable (1899-1956) was a descendant of Abraham Venable.  Do you have access to the book, Venables of Virginia by Elizabeth Marshall Venable (NY 1925)?  On p.179, mention is made of my Grandfather, Nathaniel Abram Venable, born 1870 in Prince Edward County, VA.  Nathaniel Julian Venable was his son.

I believe I have a copy of Venables of Virginia. However it is not entirely accurate in every respect I understand.
