I have been busy tracing families in Alia Sicilia for over a year and now am tracing their cousins in nearby Valledolmo. I am learning the Italian language which helps in reading the Atti birth, marriage, and death records.

I research my husband's family lines from Popoli, Abruzzi and Licata, Sicily. All of their immigration took place very close to 1900, and they settled in the Cleveland, Ohio and Schenectady, New York areas. The main surnames are Diamante, Bennice (Bennici), Riggi, and Balestreri, and Capritta.

Hello, I'm fairly new to the Wikitree concept so I hope that I'm doing this correctly! My name is Karen and my husband is the American-born child of Piedmontese immigrants. I've been slowly but surely researching his genealogy for about 15 years, and I've been indexing Italian- and Spanish-language vital records for Family Search.org for the past 5 years or so. Reasearching my Paternal grandfather's roots in Magenta, Italy. His family migrated to Victoria, Texas, USA.Their name was originally "Magna" instead of "Magnia".

As his son Amadeo was born in Brazil, it probably makes sense to see what Federigh's and the other surnames can be found in or near Lucca.

I find some findagrave records for Federighi surname, including an Antonio F (1867-1919) - possibly a brother or cousin to Giorgio, given the time frame. I mention him as the cemetery is listed as Santa Maria del Giudice Cemetery

I'm in. I've managed to locate ancestors from half of my family. I am half Italian and half Canadian and I can't seem to find anything for the Ferraiolo side past my great grandfather.

My name is Alexey Dodsworth Magnavita de Carvalho, and I am a Brazilian-Italian citizen, currently living in Venice.

My great-grandfather, Pasquale Magnavita, was born in Paola, Calabria, and came to Brazil (Bahia) in 1898. He wrote a very detailed diary for several decades. His diary starts in 1898 and ends in 1972, and offers precious information about the migration process. I have created some profiles in WikiTree, by taking into consideration the documents and pictures I possess.

I also descend from a couple that came from Piemonte in 1760, and lived in Ceará, Brazil. Their lineage is really huge, they were a kind of "Adam and Eve" in Sobral (Ceará, Brazil), and the number of their descendants ir around 3 thousand people nowadays. Their names were Gabriele Aldighieri and Maddalena Boccardo. I have no idea why they migrated from Europe in that age, but there are some theories they were politically persecuted. I strongly suspect they were born in Borgaro Torinese, since they were baptized in a church dedicated to Cosmo and Damiano.

I am able to communicate in English, Italian and Portuguese. Feel free to keep in touch, and if you are MAGNAVITA, TOSTO, CONDINO, STELLA, DOMASCO, ALDIGHIERI or BOCCARDO, please let me know.

I would like to join. I have had considerable difficulty in researching this branch of my family. My maternal grandfather, at birth, was Antonio Daniel Ronchetti, then was adopted by his Irish step-father and his name became Joseph Halpin. My grandfather was unaware of his real name until, as an adult he got a copy of his birth certificate. He biological father died when he was 3. I know his parents immigrated from Como/ La Cana/ Torino area in the Piedmont region of Italy sometime in the later 1800's. I have been unable to get back further than his parents, Pietro and Julia Ronchetti, and am unaware of my g-grandmother's maiden name.

Lorello family from Mistretta

Vetro from Agrigento (family lore indicates the Vetro name may have been taken as an alternate name to provide distance from some family disgrace. One version I've heard suggested my great grandfather was born around 1873 to a teenager in prison- any ideas how to research that?!?? I've heard the name may have been Bosco)

My immediate family is from Caulonia. They originally settled in Minnesota, then eventually moved to California in the 1930s. Surnames: Taranto, Vallelonga, Greco, Piscioneri, Geracitano.

I received a gift the day or so before Thanksgiving. I had been in touch with someone on one of the Italian lists and he gifted me with my g-gf's marriage notice and marriage record and he translated the important parts for me. My grandmother was from Alberobello and her father who was single was too but her mother according to the marriage record was a widow from Martina Franca. The Italian marriage records can be a treasure trove of information.
