He had a son named Joseph Harris Miles born in GA. Joseph was married to Eunice Johnson of Moultrie Georgia. I've been told a story my whole life that he was an American Indian scout for a officer named Davis Miles so he took is commanders last name because he was Apache. I can't find anything proving this.

Mistic:  It looks to me as if Daniel Miles is white.  The fact that he's born in Georgia, if he were Indian, he would be listed on the census as such but also he most likely wouldn't have been Apache.  His son is listed as White on the Texas birth certificates for his children also.
