Joe, WikiTree is very different than any other genealogical site. I started at ancestry.moc. I too was used to simply deleting profiles / merging them with any duplicates on my tree that I had made.
WT is not easy or simple but we have many members willing to help in G2G and you can also ask for a Mentor.
You can always use the Search box (top left of this page) or search on google for WT topics by typing what you want to find then wikitree.
Here is a link to wikitree basic tutorial-Merging Profiles by: Paul Bech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Waad3pFg74 .
WikiTree Help / Help Index = hover your mouse over the word "Help" on any WT page, a drop down box appears, click Help Index. I seem to use it quite frequently even after 3 years at WT.
Here is a link to a G2G post I made w/ other links to similar Questions: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/280891/duplicate-profiles-merging-taking-sting-them-merging-dummies . Please don't take offence to the dummies reference. After reading 3 X my first computers instructions... I ran out and bought DOS for Dummies and PC's for Dummies.
Robin Lee, says in the above post: And....when all else fails....ask http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Arborists for help. If you interested in what we do....take a look at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Arborists/New_Arborists .
