umm... Had a look at the Linked location for Goderich Township, Huron County, Ontario and it is on the opposite side of the ocean from where it should be. Nevertheless...
Starting out I assume this record is the one you are starting from: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRLY-K4W
The Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid only has 4 Churchills buried in Goderich Township, but it was very common for people to be buried in adjacent townships or counties. http://ocfa.islandnet.com/ocfa-search.php - Most of the Churchills in Huron County appear to be buried in Hullett twp, and most seem to be of Irish descent.
Given James was married in 1868 he was likely born before 1850.
The 1851 Canada Census for Goderich Twp and Goderich Town are both lost.
The 1861 Canada Census for Goderich has a James Churchill b. abt 1848 who is resident in the home of William Churchill (b. Ireland) and his wife Ann (b. England) http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1861/jpg/4391554_00393.jpg
There is also however a James Churchell b. 1848 in Canada West and a Martha J Churchell b. 1847 also in Canada who reside in Rock, Wisconsin during the 1860 US Census. The other Churchells and Churchills in this area not born in Wisconsin or Canada all come from Ireland. If they are all part of one migrating family group we can say they emigrated from Ireland to Canada between 1837 and 1847 (Likely Famine Emigrants) and then from Canada to Wisconsin between between 1850 and 1851.
