Why do you get rejected match notices in your Activity Feed?

My watchlist is getting msgs that say;

[so and so] has rejected a match between  [Jones 1234] and [Jones 5678]?   [thank so and so for this]

This doesn't seem to serve any purpose to me.  Is there a way to not get these messages ?

If they had completed a match you would want to know, wouldn't you? Perhaps the software can't distinguish between rejecting and completing matches in regard to notification.
