Does anyone have information on Gamaliel R Bryant's father? b1813

I am researching Gamaliel R Bryant, born in 1813 in North Carolina. We cannot find records of his father anywhere. An old family journal had the father down as E. Alexander Bryant from "Irland". I would appreciate any and all information!!

The two choices for fathers on ancestry.com are

1. E (Elisha) Alexander Bryant

2. James Alexander Bryant

 

A few of the trees list a Nancy Bailey as the spouse
