Looking specifically if there is a place where Ransom Kirby may be buried in VA. He was born in Wilson, NC, to Thomas Kirby and Temperance Boyette. Died in the Civil War in 1864 - and is supposedly buried there but no idea where.

Hello, I saw your post and I thought I could help but You may have the dates wrong and that may be the problem, I don't know for sure:   I found a Ransom L Kirby B. Feb 12, 1822 -died March 12, 1902 - Cedar Spring Cemetery, Spartanburg County, S.C.  -Spouse Irene E Zimmerman Kirby-  1828-1881 His find a grave # 43795410  I did find 2 other Ransom Kirby but the dates didn't match up.The are buried in North Carolina. I found this in Family Search.org and Find a grave. i hope that I was able to help, I believe 1864 was when he got out of the service, but was not killed. Nancy
Ransom Kirby, son of Thomas Kirby & Temperance Boyette, is listed in my family genealogy as born about 1821 in Johnston County NC, died 1880. The words on your Civil War record "mustered out" are in direct contradiction to not surviving the war. I'm pretty sure you have to be alive to "muster out."

Thomas' brother James is my ggggg grandfather, so this Ransom Kirby (one of many in our tree) is my gggg uncle. Ransom's cousins Henry H., Joel & Jesse Kirby (in my direct line) also enlisted and fought. Joel died, possibly while serving, in 1863. Like you, I'm still tracking down records for that.
