Can there be 2 George W. Stewart's at the same time roughly the same age, same place, naturalized same year?

I was wondering about the census i have seen,  the Stewart's i am related to talk about everything nothing is secret,  I would have know if my great grandfather had been in jail,  but I found the exact same name and age in the exact same town, and it says inmate.

There are men named George W. Stewart in many different states as well as in Canada.

Can you say what country, state or province, county and or city of birth & marriage.

Would you estimate birth, marriage and death years?

It would seem that my great grandfather was not sure of what year he was born, on different census he put different Years, but same wife and children

Inmate did not necessarily mean a convict as we know the word today.  I have found that term on an ancestor who was in the county home for aged.  It was also used for hospitals, not only mental hospitals, but general and tuberculosis hospitals as well.  Orphanages, etc.  Words have not always meant the same thing as todays language.

Yes, the same person could be listed in two seperate locations on the Census for that location.  The Census was not all taken the same day by the same person.  If the person was listed in there home, and later was visiting family or whatever caused them to be in a different location, they were listed as residing there at that specific time.  So as stated in a prior answer by Kim he may have been hospitalized and listed there, and also in his home prior to going in or after his release from the hospital.
