Anne Comptons -

See here: http://www.thepeerage.com/p2761.htm#i27605  Parents: William Compton and wife, Elizabeth Spencer.  Married Ulrick Bourke.

so what do you think, can the following two profiles be merged?

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Compton-770

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Compton-1106

And then there is this one:  https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=njp.32101007240102;view=1up;seq=386;size=150 Whose parents: Henry Compton and wife Lady Cicley the daughter of Earl of Dorset. Who married Clement Paston.

It could be that this Ann Compton, who married who married Clement Paston was conflated with the mother of Ann Putnam Kinney.  See at American Ancestors:  Beekman Patent.  here: https://www.americanancestors.org/databases/beekman-patent-the-settlers-of-dutchess-co-ny/image/?volumeId=12177&pageName=541&rId=137713478

Here is Ann Putnam Kinney's profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Putnam-116   And here is Anne Compton Putnam's profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Compton-124  You will note that Anne Compton Putnam has been removed as mother of Ann Putnam Kinney.

My preference would be to have Compton-124 return as the mother of Putnam-116.  Make her parents unknown.  Then proceed to make a new profile for Anne Compton, wife of Clement Paston, adding proper parents from the "Peerage."

What do you think?  I may be all wrong here....  I feel like I'm really putting myself out on a limb, with all the problems among us Kinney/Kinne/Kenney cousins.  Please don't saw away, think it over and check out the links, please.

Need help from people who are knowledgeable about the families of Compton, Putnam, and Kinney.

I have a friend that I grew up with, and his name is William Compton, who had many relatives across America. Look him up on Facebook, and tell him I sent you, as a friend. His Family is a long line of Pastors, and he has an enormous amount of records at his disposal, from Family Bibles and such, plus a very keen memory. He may be able to help as far as the Compton side. He went to Lee University, if there are more than two!

Hi Don,  thank you for sharing your friend's name.  However,  I wouldn't contact a private friend of yours...one that I don't know.  I'm sure you understand my reservations.

Cheryl
I come from the Comptons. during the revolutionary war were loyalist and moved to nova scotia then back to America after. I understand I am from the line of King Richard 111. Pretty cool!
That's OK. I just thought you could explain to him, that I sent you and explain to him what you are doing. He would be more than glad to help, I'm sure.

Your previous thread about Putnams

https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/294095/royalty-or-not-royalty-that-is-the-question

I left some red links for people without profiles

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Browne-1873

The Putnams also turned out to be a minefield.

Thank you, RJ.

I would like it if you would get a little "wordy" with me and add more explanation/clarification about your answer above.

Are you thinking that my previous thread contains the answer to this question?

Are you thinking that I could make new profiles for those red links?

Just give me some more information, please and thanks.
Sorry, I don't know any more about these than what was said before.

Further encouragement that we should have two profiles:

one "royal"  for the Ann Compton who married Clement Paston

and one "non-royal" for the Ann Compton who married Edmund Putnam

Here is a marriage record from American Ancestors.  England: Marriages, 1538-1973.  "Edmunde - - - OH MY GOODNESS... I am just now seeing that this marriage record is spelled Edmunde PUTMAN  not PUTNAM.    Drats.  I wonder if it's a typo??  Anyway Edmund spouse is Ann Compton, married February 10, 1623 at Kent, England.

At Family Search

"England Marriages, 1538–1973 ," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5VR-D7W : 10 December 2014), Edmunde Putman and Ann Compton, 10 Feb 1623; citing Saint Alphage,Greenwich,Kent,England, reference ; FHL microfilm 254589, 254590, 254591, 254592, 254593, 363062, 942.23 C4G V. 2.

Can also be found searching at FreeReg.org

All the indexers agree it says Putman. But I wouldn't worry about that, I've seen it in more modern spellings also Putman instead of Putnam

thanks SO MUCH, Anne

Cheryl
