George Hamilton traveled to NZ on the barque Alice in 1871. Matilda Gibson travelled as his wife and they had one child with them. They married in Christchurch, NZ and had three more children, 2 boys, Ralph and Robert and a daughter, Agnes. Robert was my grandfather. George's death is unknown. Matilda died in 1907 in Wellington NZ.  I have searched in BMD, Roots web and Family search to no avail.Looking forward to hearing from you, many thanks, June

My mother was a Hamilton. (I believe from Londonderry) I am looking for her family tree and have found many things (also many conflicting things). My side of the Hamilton family emigrated to the US, so I don't know how much help I can be for your specific question, but I would be glad to share any info I have. Do you know George's parents names?

Dear Chris, unfortunately I don't know George's parents names though perhaps I have a clue. George's second name was Alexander, so that may have been his father's name. He named his sons Ralph and Robert and one of his daughters, Agnes. The daughter they had before arriving in New Zealand, I don't have a name for. Hope that helps in some way.Kind Regards, June
