I wanted to share this family photo of Gerald Gladstone with the community. Location: probably West Hill, Llandaff. Date: c.1915.
The photograph shows two of the sons of John Ernest and Sophie Gladstone. The elder son, Jack, on the right, fought all the way through World War I until about three months before it ended, when he was killed in Northern France near Pas-de-Calais. His younger brother, Gerald, fought in both World War I and World War II and went on to serve in the Royal Navy until he retired at a very senior rank.
This photograph is probably the only one that shows the brothers, both in uniform.
