How can I restore a caption to a photo I mistakenly deleted?

I updated an explanatory caption for a Giovanni Magnani photo (the one with Antonio Giovanni and his children--and then deleted it rather than saved it. Is there some way I can restore the original caption? (I seem to recall that you have previous versions of things saved.)

If you click on the photo, a large pic should appear and there should be a click for "edit"
I tried some variations of this and I don't think it works. At least none of the text I originally had with the photo reappeared. Thanks for your attempt, though.

The only way to restore a previous caption is to retype it. Assuming you mean the title. Go to the photo edit page, scroll down (about the middle) Title: type the new/old one.

Images  don't save old versions the way profiles do.
