Don't know if this will help. Ancestry has a Simon Ross marrying Ann Baldock on 29 September 1834 at Port Sorell, Tasmania, Reg. No. 2649. There are birth registrations under those names for Lucy Anne b 1834, Mary b 1842 and Simon b 1845. No record of Harriet but could they be the same parents?

Thanks for your reply Amanda. Yes. Simon Ross is Harriet's father and he married Ann Baldock but I have no confirmation that Ann was her mother as her death cert states 'mother unknown'. I have a large tree on Ancestry with Simon and Ann's descendants and some of Simon's ancestry. There is no birth record for harriet that I can find (20 years searching). She is my brick wall. Her marriage to George Arnell/Arnold is another brick wall. That's another story.
Harriet could have been born in England or at sea and Simon Ross is her Stepfather

That is a possibility but no record found in Tasmania and she did not appear to grow up/live with her sisters in Richmond. She seemed to appear at her father's house at her marriage to a John James Chambers in 1858/9
I have look for the marriage of John James Chambers and Harriett Ross

It say that they were married on 17 March 1859 John age 21 and Harriett age 20 this would make Harriet birth 1838/39

Thank yo for replying. I have that information and much more on Ann and Simon but there is no official record confirming Harriett's birth etc. There is no record of the child Ann had/brought with her. Her convict record states Single with one child" which doesn't necessarily mean the child came to Australia with her, survived the trip etc. There is no record in the Hobart orphanage either. Harriett Ross is a mystery.
