I have been searching a while now. The elusive person is Willem Christoffel Botha. He passed away in 1958. He was my great grandfather. I have managed to locate the number of his estate file,537/59 in the collection of South Africa,Transvaal probate records, but that info I got from NASA national archives of South Africa. How do I go about accessing it. I have no other soirce that can give me his parents' names. Please help.

Is this any help? I'm unfamiliar with South African records.

Thanks for your reply, but it appears all the records have not yet been transcribed and are not available for searching by index.you have to gp through them one by one,it loads extremely slowly so it takes forever, you start at the beginning of the collection and work your way through, quite tedious. Was hoping there might be a faster way....maybe they will get indexed in future..
Yes, this is often the case. I do this with English Parish records and US probate records for some jurisdictions.

Still, slowly searching while sitting in your jammies with an adult beverage of your choice is preferable to reading microfilm. After a while you find some method of organisation in the collection and things go a little faster.
Thank you,Rosemary. It's nice to know that is jist the way it is,and not that I'm doing something wrong. I appreciate everyone's assistance since I am still very new to all this.
