seeking parents of Martin Luther Potts 12 Dec 1836 Pottsville,PA

I am new to WikiTree and feeling my way around the site. Started off in genealogy years ago and did it via the paper trail and cemetery circuit. Being disabled now, having access to the internet is a blessing but arthritis makes typing really challenging. Anyway, so happy to find this community of heritage seekers.

This will take some sleuthing.

1.  How far is Litchfield from Pottsville?  The 1850 Census for Litchfield, Bradford, Pennsylvania, shows Elizabeth Potts, age 45, along with three children:  Martin, age 14; Jane, and Margaret.  All four individuals were born in Pennsylvania.

2.  Another 1850 census from Pennsylvania lists Martin Potts, age 11, living with John & Kate Potts (ages 46 and 44) and several other children.

Year: 1850; Census Place: North Manheim, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania; Roll: M432_826; Page: 342B; Image: 368

 

Do you know the names of Martin's brothers and sisters?

Wow! That was fast. I have heard the names John and Kate Potts as his parents but had not found documentation of it. This is very helpful and really appreciate your sharing this so quickly.

Pottsville is in Schuylkill so that fits in well. I hope to find more documentation on this.

 Martin later married Betsey Harkness on October 24, 1858.
