As I have been creating categories for individual GEDCOM uploads as part of the Lost and Found Project, I came across a quirk in how categories are handled.
If a GEDCOM file starts with a lower-case letter, the system changes it to an upper-case letter. (So if you add Category:gl120368.ged to a profiles, the URL for the category becomes https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Gl120368.ged rather than https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:gl120368.ged, and the link is displayed as Category:Gl120368.ged.) Presumably, this is because we expect categories to begin with an upper-case letter. But if you use a lower-case letter, the category name shows red, even though the category is created. Also, for some reason, if you go straight to the category, it will show as empty. But if you go to one of the profiles in the category (in this case, let's take Aldous-1), and then click on the category name there, the category will be populated.
I suppose we could force people to change the first letter in a filename to upper-case if it isn't already upper case, but it seems counter-intuitive to me. Is it possible to set the system to permit lower-case letters at the beginning of category names where they're necessary?
