Chart 4 Line of descent from Edward I to John Drake (p. 156) fall apart at both ends. It is supposed to show a Line of descent from Plantagenet-2 to Trumbull-56 via John Drake (WikiTree#Drake-505). It shows John Drake-505’s parents as John Drake-533 and Elizabeth Rogers-616. This is incorrect. Elizabeth Rogers-616 was Drake-505’s stepmother. His mother was Lettice Shakespeare-25. Drake-533’s parents are unknown, see disputed parents note on Drake-533. The Philippa Dennys connection is therefore invalid.  There are also a lot of uncertainties in the Courtenay-Grenville connection. Chart four was based on:

Frederick L. Weis’s Ancestral Roots, 1964 reprint, lines 6 and 234. Data contributed by Mrs. Genevieve Tylee Kiepura, in “John Drake’s English Connections,” In The American Genealogist, Vol. 41, 1965,pp.239-244.
E.E. Salisbury’s family Histories and Genealogies,vol.3, supplement.

“Authorities” are not always sound sources!
