Why a limit of 20 tags

All our projects and surnames, why is there a limit of 20 tags that can be followed?

I'd personally like more, as my feed is a little quiet at times with the surnames I am following.

This subject has been brought up numerous times and I think it needs to be discussed.   Here was the last status from the TEAM

With all of the non-surname tags we all want to follow, it hardly leaves room for surname tags.   Perhaps there needs to be two different feeds?

Previous comments indicated 2 feeds would take more tech resources. But more discussion and identifying options could hopefully yield some helpful results or at least progress?
I would be up for two feeds if the techies can arrange it. I do like having some kind of cap though. Otherwise I'll go mad! :-)
I'm afraid the daily Wiki Genealogy Feed e-mail updates already consume a huge amount of processing resources. 50,000 members following 20 tags means 1,000,000 searches a day.
That certainly puts it into perspective. :-)
I know! I hit 20 really fast. At the bottom of my profile page, I have links to 40 more that I'd like to follow.

I thought I had hit on an answer, at least in part, by using the project accounts to carry project-specific tags. Louisiana Families and Louisiana Categories have a good collection of tags, as does the MatchBot Monitors project account. But the Google Group members receiving e-mails from the Magna Carta project objected to the increased e-mail traffic, so that project account follows no tags. <sigh>

Perhaps it's time for me to ask again about having it follow some.

Cheers, Liz
Chris, could a flag be added to our tags allowing us to choose which are searched for the Feed email? Limit those flagged for the feed to 20 but allow others that don't get included?

Many times, I want the tags as a quick link to someplace on WikiTree. Just a thought.
For what it's worth, you can put {{Tag Link|wikitree_love}} (or whatever other tag in place of wikitree_love) on your profile, the scratch pad on your nav home page, or any other wiki page and it will create a formatted link to the G2G tag feed.
I had no idea, thanks! That will come in handy.
