Question

The US Presidents Project is trying to connect US Vice President Walter Mondale to the big tree.   This generation was born in Scotland, moved to Canada, and then to the US.   While I have found records for this generation...would love to have some help with the next couple of generations from Scotland.

Seeing as he lived in Canada, I thought it was best to go backwards from the 1880 census and look for the previous census. I found him in the 1871 census in Ontario, Canada. I'll put a citation on his profile.

The 1861 Canada Censuses doesn't give family relationships, but lists a Agnes Cowan aged 67 who I think would be his mother, and a Hector Cowan aged 24 who I think would be his brother. (He was 28)
