Do you mean sources or some other sort of record?  Two things you should do.  First click on the Help dropdown (top right courner of most any page) and look for what you're interested in, say Sources.  Related to that click or one or more of the people you find here on G2G and go their home page and then their Family Tree and Tools and them pick a profile that's open (Lock symbol being white) and look and see how they do it.  You can click the edit mode and see what the data slots and the Biography look like and then go back to one of your profiles and see what you have and try out some things and save them and get the hang on how how things work.  BTW, try not to change things of the page(s) you're looking at, but if you do, don't worry too much as most things here are easily reversable.  So, in summary, read the help files and see how others do things.
