Does anyone know which Edwards group I'm related to?

My grandfather, CDR. Peter Edwards, was born in either Greenville County, SC or Bouncombe County, NC on 31 Jul 1925. He passed away on 27 Apr 1993 in Asheville, NC.

He had three children Fred Easton (b.1953), Cynthia Lynette(b.1955), and my father, John Lee (b.1956? - d.1996?). I know very little of any of them as I lost contact at a young age.

I have found one 1940 census record matching a mother's name for Peter as Erie B. Edwards in Greenville, SC. I have also seen one other birth record pairing Erie with Hampton Edwards as his parents.

I believe my great-grandmother's name was Erie Belle Edwards.

I believe my great-grandfather's name was Hampton Edwards.

I believe my grandmother's name was Glynda Davis Edwards.

I know Pete was a retired US Naval Commander, and I found some muster rolls from the USS Tausig in WWII showing my grandfather was present on this ship at times during the years of 1943-1946.

Pete also owned a Duncan Donuts and a Take Ten arcade in Asheville, NC at the time of his death.

Any help or info would be greatly and sincerely appreciated.

Quite possibly. I'll dig around and see if I can find anything. Thanks for taking the time to look!

You may need to add earlier generations to find ancestors in common with others on WikiTree.  Peter Edwards father could be added, and so on back. .

I understand this, but I have very little knowledge of my family. Adding more ancestors is my goal, of course. But not knowing anything about them makes it difficult to add a person, unless I'm missing something. I'm hoping someone may have came across one of them at some point. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

You very likely descend from the John Edwards (d.1801) who settled in Greenville County, SC in 1791. He had previously lived in Fauquier Co., VA and was originally from Westmoreland or Spotsylvania, VA.
