Ancestral Broach - Bechtold/Becktold - Gasser

The broach is many generations old. My sister is in possession of this broach. It has been passed down to the oldest daughter for generations (or to the most responsible daughter in some cases... lol).

However, my mother is unsure how far back this tradition began. She was able to trace it back to when the Gassers met the Bechtolds/Becktolds. We just don't know if it goes back further than that, or if it came from the Gasser side, or Becktold side.

Becktold-8 Gasser-122

The Becktolds came from Germany, while the Gassers came from Switzerland. The Gassers fled Switzerland due to religious prosecution and fighting. They likely met the Becktolds then. I am unsure of which country or which family (or an even older family) that this broach originated from because both trees, of both families have grown cold. I have searched endlessly for info on the broach or info on the families.

Furthest I can trace it back to is early 1800 - mid 1800s.

From what we can piece together,.. Gasser family passed it on to Becktold, (or vice versa) Becktold passed to Zweifel Zweifel passed it to Nieman. Niemann passed it to Vann. Vann passed it to Rambo. Rambo passed it onto Bazarnic (My oldest sister now has it).

I am not sure how to add a photo.

This broach is passed down to the oldest daughter of each family. It is currently in the possession of my oldest sister.

I guess I am posting this to see if there is anyone from Germany or Switzerland that may recognize this broach.  I have googled the image.  I am not even sure what it is?  Looks like a rolling pin? lol  Maybe if someone is familiar with these families?

And that is not the original latch on the back.  My grandmother had that latch put on because the other one was not holding it on well.

I've seen this object before but I don't remember where. I think it might be Greek. I'm still looking

Anything helps!  :)  Greek huh?  Hmm... interesting if that turns to be correct.

Mother also said it could have come from the Schaffers/Shaffers, but she is not sure if they were joined on the Becktold or the Gasser side.  She did say there was some inter-marrying between the two families, which is going to make my research a bit more difficult.  lol
