I have reached a dead end in researching my 2nd great grandfather. I can find no trace of him before he appeared in Lyon, KY. I have information that he was born in Lyon, KY on April, 1834 but I have no proof of that. I do have census information and know that he and his family were in Princeton, Kentucky from the time he married his wife in 8 Jan 1857 onwards. I have census proof that he and the family were in Princeton, Caldwell, Kentucky from 1860, 1870 and 1880. Matthew Lyon (or Matt L as he is referred to in some of the documents) died in 10 Nov 1887. I simply can not find a trace of his family, his parents - although I have had folks that wrote me and suggested that the family came over from Wales at the invitation of Matthew Lyon in Eddyville, Lyon, Kentucky. I have no proof of that. I can't go any further in my research if I can't find a link into Matthew Lyon Edwards' past. Can you help me?

I have a family tree also at ancestry.com - https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/25788559/person/12446901748/facts

That will be a nice connection to make... So close!

I tried for a while and didn't find the gold yet. We'll keep trying.
Thanks for your help on this conundrum.

I have added into the wikitree profile a potential brother for Matthew. James Edwards who is shown on the 1860 federal census with Matthew Lyon Edwards. (Year: 1860; Census Place: Princeton, Caldwell, Kentucky; Roll: M653_359; Page: 114; Family History Library Film: 803359)  This is the only proof that these two people even knew each other. I have researched James Edwards and have added historical documents to his profile on ancestry.com  - https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/25788559/person/12524687693/facts

I added a marriage record from FamilySearch.org to his profile. FamilySearch has Kentucky Births from 1839 - 1960, so I had no luck finding a Matthew Edwards born in 1834.

Go to family search.org and search for Matthew Edwards born in 1834, Don”t enter a country.  there are three.  One was born in March and two in June or July - all  in England.
