Wrong mother for Mary Elizabeth Hunt?

I would've listed it as a statement, not a question but you don't offer that option here.

Her mother, in fact, is Martha Ann Woodson Hunt, not Mary Hunt as you list it.  Mary Elizabeth is the only daughter of Daniel Hunt and his first wife, Martha Ann who died approximately one year after Mary Elizabeth's was born.

Mary Elizabeth was then, esentially (if not legally) adopted by Martha Ann's youger sister, Edith Woodson and her husband, David Frye.  This fact was passed down only fairly recently (abt the late 1990's) by a Woodson-Frye family elder.

Your welcome!

JR, have you or your family confirm this passed down fact with more original documentation ?  I ask because my family has had such passed down stories as well that have turned out to be inaccurate.

Jillaine, that's a good point.  And I would like to get the documentation together that backs up the family's account of it.

However...  Do you watch, "Judge Judy"?  She has a saying, "If it doesn't make sense, it's not true!"

Well, it doesn't make sense--that Mary Hunt is Mary Elizabeth's mother--becaue Mary Elizabeth Hunt was born in 1841.  And at this time her father, Daniel Hunt, was still married to his first wife, Martha Ann (Woodson) Hunt who is Marry's older sister.

Daniel married Mary Woodson in 1844, two years after Martha Ann had died and three years after Mary Elizabeth was born!

Yowzer, that was difficult to follow but I think I've got it.

What I see missing from Daniel Hunt's profile is an earlier marriage.  That needs to be documented and added in.  I also don't see a Martha as sister to Mary.  So that also needs to documented and added.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Can you help fix it?

I have corrected this error.  Yes, very late (like, 5 years!), but I hope it prevents confusion other researchers may have had on the same issue.  JS

Hi JR,

Thank you for the information. This is not a family line I am connected to but I was worried that your posting might get lost amongst the other traffic, therefore  have posted it on the profile.

You could contact the profile manager yourself, and maybe hitch up with more of your family :)

Happy Hunting
