Hello, I just joined the site today.

Question

I am still learning the genealogy ropes but am a history fanatic.  I am a fourth year History student, also working on a public history certificate.  I am in my forties so this is my second....or third career.  My goal is to land a glamorous position at an archival facility and help others with research while I conduct my own.

Hi Jeffrey. I'm new also. I'm having fun looking around and I'm eager to get started.  As I've gotten older I've come to realize just how much I love history and would have loved being an archeologist. It sounds like you have a wonderful goal set for yourself. I truly hope you achieve it. What fun that would be!

Welcome.   I hope you have fun. This is a very active site, and members are quick to answer questions. One of my children married a Kurtz. I am  also a Mayflower descendant, and fairly new to WikiTree. Happy research.

I just joined last week. Nice to meet you. Sounds like a great goal. My husband claims Richard Warren and John Howland. I haven't proven John Alden and Francis Cooke yet according to GSMD, but we know they are valid. Who are you Mayflower ancestors?

Welcome to Wikitree! My suggestion is that you add your parents and grandparents, if you know the info, right out of the box. Then start working up the family teee until you can connect with the overall big Wikitree. This will help you begin finding connections. The relationship finder tool is interesting but ya need to connect first. Best wishes on your journey and on the new career.
