Research Centres in/around Dublin

Question

Hello Wikitree!

I've heard rumours of a large genealogy research centre in Dublin, Ireland - does anyone have any information on this? A friend of mine is planning on travelling to Ireland next month, and they were looking to do some family research while there. They will be staying in Dublin for the longest time, which is why I wanted to start there on my search.

If anyone has any suggestions for places to visit in Ireland for genealogy research, please let me know! Her maiden name is Conley (if that helps).

I think she'll find excellent help there.

My husband had a wonderful experience with the reference librarian in a public library in the Irish city that was the home of one of his ancestors. We dropped in while driving through the area, on the off chance that he could find information. The librarian had access to electronic records from the church where his ancestor was baptized (records not on the internet). My husband found records for parents and siblings. The family had remained in Ireland after his ancestor emigrated, and the records included siblings born and baptized after she left for America. The librarian also provided information on the likely origins of several other Irish surnames in my husband's family.
