Another family tree site

+10 votes

I'm trying to connect Thomas Wilson Paterson, former Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, to the main tree. I've managed to push his branch out quite a ways in several directions but then my leads keep petering out before I can actually find a connection.

In any case, I got into a family of Savages, which perked up my ears, because there are Savages in my own family. However, I couldn't find a connection there, either.

What I did find was one of those sites built on The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding, which is a content management system for genealogy sites that I have encountered a few times before. This site traces out the families of a married couple, so it started out with their parents' names and kind of took off from there. So if anybody is working with Savage, Dowling, Gibbs, or Faulkner families, you may find your people on this site. If so, let me know, and we can try to connect together.

Public Comments (from all member trees)

Richard Shaun Paterson He was actually born in Darvel, not Darnel. He did not have a daughter in 1899 with Emma. He adopted a son (Gordon Bowers Paterson) from his nephew Alexander McDonald Paterson

Thank you for that, Dave. Unfortunately, Ancestry won't let me see anything unless I pay their fees, which I'm not about to do.
Dear Greg,

Thank you for letting me know,, I hope maybe the names given may help you and I'll remember to use references to non pay sites as often as possible. Have a good day. Dave Savage
Thank you, Dave. I searched on "Richard Shaun Paterson", and found another Paterson family tree that he's managing on MyHeritage (which does let me see some information without having to pay an outrageous fee first). So I sent him a message, asking is he wants to share research.
Hi Greg,

I am so glad to hear about your discovery . I hope it helps you in your research for the Paterson tree. Have a great day. Dave Savage
