How do I enter a DNA confirmation

I have a confirmed 2nd cousin match with my Grandmothers nephew in the Ancestry website. He is not on Wiki-tree and given that he is living, I am not inclined to add his details as this should be up to him. Can I, however add him as an initial and make his profile black so the DNA link shows up? I am trying to confirm my data without breaching anyones privacy or protocols.

If this does not work, can we have a new icon which says "DNA confirmed outside Wikitree"

You can make profiles unlisted. However for privacy sake I would think it best if you talk to him before adding him and if he is okay with it you could add his information however if he is so inclined you could also add his email address on the profile so he can manage it as a family member he don't have to feel inclined to join wikitree as a genealogist but he could control his own profile

Now as for changing protocol and adding more icons I'm not sure what to suggest

Lynlee,

Why not ask him to join Wikitree?  The fact that he has had a DNA test tells us that he is interested and willing to take some effort to identify family members.  If both of you would add your results to GEDmatch you would be on your way to developing a documented DNA family.

If you are both in GEDMatch there is a chance that you can start finding those 3rd, 4th and 5th cousins that will allow you to confirm your family tree.

His test is administered by another family member of his wife and she confirmed who he is and passed my details on. I have been waiting almost 3 months and he has not messaged me direct yet so chances of him joining Wikitree himself are minimal. Sad as I wore and still own the wedding dress both our Grandmothers wore. I am sure there would be much to share in both directions.

I am a new Wikitree member but I recently looked this up. I believe only the DNA taker can add their info and they would need to set up their own profile to do so. The field won't even open if the record doesn't belong to the account owner.  The instructions say to list it like the following:

Paternal relationship is confirmed with an AncestryDNA test match between [[Gulick-353|Sharon Bart]] and (match's username), 1st Cousin, once removed. Predicted relationship reported by AncestryDNA: 2nd Cousins based on sharing 399 cM across 22 segments; Confidence: Extremely High.

You can manually change a record to "DNA confirmed"

If you haven't found this information, it's been helpful:

Edit: I'm now seeing that this is an old post. I guess it showed up as related to another. But I'll leave this here anyway in case someone wants to know and stumbles on it as well.
