Any suggestions on how to handle a birth surname that is only 2 generations old in my profile?

My surname at birth is not going to help anyone with their genealogy as my grandfather changed his surname in the 1940s. I'm not related to anyone with my birth surname other than immediate family. Additionally, no one who knows me would connect me with the original surname. If I use my birth surname, it will not help genealogically but using original name will cause confusion with people who know who I am (2nd cousins etc.). Suggestions?

You don't have to share your LNAB with anyone else to be related to other people.

Your connections are made by building your branch of the tree - connecting parents to children or spouses to each other by the relationships (other relationships appear from these base relationships).

I would put the other surname under where it says other last names used. Also explain it in your Bio

I agree with Melissa assuming she means put the old surname in the other space.  The actual, changed surname should be the LNAB even it's the only person to have ever had the surname.  I have the same thing in my family in that my 2ggrandfather, when he came to the US changed his surname from Darendinger (or some similar spelling) to Dardinger.  I'd change the surname of the 3 of 10 children who were born in Switzerland if I were certain what the exact spelling was.  If that ever happens, I'll change it, but for now I'm going with Dardinger.
