I'm pre-1500 certified but need help on this merge [closed]

I have two pre-1500 profiles to merge. They are De_Salazar-31 and De_Salazar-26. De_Salazar-31 is project protected but orphaned. I assume the project is European Aristrocrats. Policy says I should merge into the project-protected profile, but that profile was created later than the non project protected. And it really doesn't look like it should be project protected since it's orphaned-- I'd expect the Project to be one of the managers.

So if I try to merge into the lower numbered profile it says I must merge into the project protected one.  If I try and reverse the merge, it says I should merge into the older profile.  Either way, I can't proceed. Perhaps someone from whatever project can remove the protection?

I think you need a leader to remove the lock until the merge is completed and then put it back again.
There's the question of whether EuroAristo naming rules apply.

If not, the De should probably be lower-cased anyway.

If the LNAB is going to be changed, it should ideally be done on one profile or the other, doesn't matter which, before the merge.
There is a bunch of badly named profiles connected with this family, and am going to look at this issue. They are adoptable, so much the better.

Profiles are always merged into the lower numbered one.  It won't let you do it the other way.  When you come across one with PPP that's a higher number, a PM or project leader just needs to remove the PPP to allow the merge to continue; afterwards, they can replace the PPP on the new profile (or go ahead and put it on it in advance).

RJ is correct in that the 'de' doesn't belong in the LNAB field.  If you look at his father, his LNAB is Salazar.  So the LNAB should be changed to Salazar and then merge the two profiles into the Salazar profile.  I have proceeded to do all of that and merged the two profiles.  I also added the EuroAristo Project as PM on the profile.

Thanks for bringing this up so we could get it handled.

thanks for going thru the policy and merge options/advice again. and thanks for confirming that RJ had the other bit of essential advice, so that LNAB standards move in the right direction

Thank you Darlene!

How do you add the EuroAristo project as manager to a profile? I wish to add the controversial profile of Hugues de Montfélix, it has just been orphaned.

Thanks Isabelle, I've just added the EuroAristo project as the manager.  You need to be on the trusted list of a profile, then as per normal add the project to the trusted list and then make it the manager.
Thanks John.
