I looking information about my grandmother last name, De Leon in the Dominican Republic.

i  tracking back to Felipe de leon but i dont no more information about him and his father and mother and if hi born in Dominican Republic or he go to Dominica Republic from Spain or Portugal.

the name of my grandmother is Maria Josefa de Leon, and his father was Jose Maria De Leon

And i want to know if Juan Crisostomo is the father of Jose Maria

The name (de Leon) is wide spread today. People with that last name will find their early ancestors were likely from the Kingdom of Leon which was located in north west Europe in what is today Spain. The Kingdom was founded in 910 AD merged with Castile in 1230 and became independent again in 1296.  It was under control of the Princes of Austorius. Portugal was part of the Kingdom and separated from Leon at a later date. The surname can also be attributed to the city of Leon the Kingdom's capitol now locate in the province of Leon, Spain.
