Henry Salisbury born april 1880 preston england.  mother Ellen Salisbury, aunt Ellen Jane Salisbury, grandfather is Henry Salisbury.  Brother of aunt.  Is his father/grandfather one in the same.  Or daughter Ellen unmarried.

 

Who was the father? not a Salisbury...

Henry Salisbury is my great-grandfather and I am also attempting to find out who the anonymous father is (are you on Ancestry.com? If so, we may have connected there already! :)

I have always had a theory (and this is a VERY far-fetched theory that has no proof or basis in reality) that the 18-19 year old Ellen Jane was "friends" with one of the Irish stonemasons (in their 20's and listed as "married boarders" on the 1881 England census), who lived a couple of doors down from her (she was at 33 Park and they were living at 37 Park Street).  One of them is named James Tierney and, coincidentally, I just had a "close match," but with no obvious connection, through DNA testing on Ancestry.com, with someone who has a branch of "Tierney" in their family tree.  We may never know - but is a possibility!

Have you had your DNA test done either through ancestry.com or 23andme.com? Maybe that will reveal some hints as to the paternity of Henry Salsibury!  Just a thought...

hi anonymous, henry was captured as a baby in the 1881 census (below) with no apparent father in the household so you will need to get a copy of his birth certificate to find who it was (if it was provided).
