Trying to find out about my Ferguson ancestry

Question

I am an amateur genealogist trying to find whatever I can about my Ferguson ancestry.

I know virtually nothing about my GGgrandfather, James Ferguson (1820 TN? - 1903 Van Buren Co., AR).  He supposedly came to Arkansas from Tennessee with a wife, Sarah LNU (1839 -1917).  I know of 2 children, my Ggrandmother, Minnie (1872 TN - 1952 Van Buren Co., AR) & Charlie (1878 - 1935 Van Buren Co., AR.  d. when hit in the head by a pool cuestick).  I have heard there was also a daughter, named Fannie? who was m. to a Huie.

Minnie m. 1894 to Charles White Patterson (1856 - 1941).   

I do not know if or how my James Ferguson of Van Buren Co. was connected to the Fergusons of Marshall in neighboring Searcy County.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
