Are any Bussell families related to Edward Irvine Bussell CBE RAF. He was born in Ireland in the 1890's and married in 1927. He has a stepson Peter b1916 and a son Brooke Bussell b1930. Brooke Bussell resides in Toronto having spent many years working in the mining business in Africa. Edward Irvine Bussell started his career in the Flying Corps WW1 achieving success in the new RAF. He became a very competent fighter pilot and instructed the legendry Douglas Bardar. During WW2 he was on the select committee for the development of the flying bomb at Brooklands and resided at the White House, Old Lane, Byfleet, Surrey. At 6ft 6in he was head and shoulders above the rest and enjoyed being rather ruthless in his field, gaining respect at all levels. After WW2 he then formed the Indian RAF, retired and passed away in 1968. If you have any memories of this Bussell, please post a message for all to read or contact me and I will post it.

Sounds like a remarkable man. Wonderful stories I bet. Great that you are looking to capture and preserve them for all.  Cheers :)

I think that I am the third cousin of Brooke Bussell.  All the Bussells come from Co Fermanagh. William Bussell, a son of Crumlin Bussell, had two sons by his first wife whose name is not known. The sons were Edward, born about 1840, and John, born 1843. Edward married Ann Jane Haire on 3 June 1863 at Colebrooke in Co Fermanagh.  They had a son, also Edward, who emigrated to Canada.  The 1911 census shows that Edward Bussell, born in Ireland in 1864 and his wife Margaret were living in Toronto with their children Edward, Margaret and William.  Edward is 15 which fits exactly with his date of birth, 23 July 1896, listed for Edward Irvine Bussell,  in Canada, Soldiers of the first world war. For the rest of this, please contact me by e-mail.

Hey - my grandfather Edward Brooke Bussell is sitting beside me and told me to look up Irvine. Crazy connections. Would love to connect and learn more. My gramps would also love to chat!
I am Margaret Jane Reid (DOB: 7 January, 1929), living in London Ontario daughter of William “patrick “Reid and Margaret Bustle of chatham, Ontario. Margaret’s uncle was Eddie Bussell. She recalls that Eddie and his wife Jummie(?) stayed with her parents in Chatham after the war. Her recollection is that they bought a house outside Toronto and then emigrated to South Africa.

My mother is presently 91 years old and lives in London Ontario.  I am her daughter( Anne Sylvester) and I live in Caledon ON.  The topic came up today because we were sharing with her our trip to India.  She then recalled that her uncle lived in India and was employed by the British Air Force.
William Bussell, 2nd son of Crumlin Bussell, is my 2G-grandfather. William's son William Bussell b1863 and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Flanagan b1871 were the parents of my grandmother Annie Bussell. I had no idea that William b1811 had a previous marriage from which 2 sons were born (Edward b1840 and John b1843). I know that William's descendants farmed at Garraroosky, Derrymacrow, Culliondoo, Corsenshin and other townlands near Lisnaskea. A Daniel Bussell (brother of Crumlin?) farmed at Kilready. I would love to learn more about the Bussell families if you have additional information.
