How do I merge from a gedcom compare list and search list from that list

Question

I  am working on uploading a gedcom file.  I am going through the compare report doing a search on each individual.  On one of the names I found a match.  How do I tell the system that it is a match to a record I a trying to upload?

I also notice that on the records that I indicate match, it checks the skip column on that record and a bunch of other records.  I have been unchecking them but don't understand why it does this.

I guess the compare report is confusing me.  Please explain it better.

Someone will surely explain in more depth and with better direction shortly, but I wanted to share this to maybe help you quickly...

The ones that show as matches, that means there are already profiles in WikiTree for them and you don't want to create another.  You only want to create new ones that don't yet exist.  Then once imported you will be able to link those new ones to the "old" and be all set.  They are skipped to prevent making new ones.  You will want to leave them as such.
